The world of the Craft (no, I’m not talking about the amazingly awesome 1996 horror movie starring Neve Campbell and Fairuza Balk.. although it does deserve to have its photo posted above.. I’m talking about a made-by-hand profession called crafting) has taken over.
The DIY market has become wildly popular with new mom’s, really old mom’s and quirky girls… myself included.
Etsy.com is an online marketplace that allows people to own a small business from home, create from home, and sell from home… sounds pretty great doesn’t it? Consumers are becoming more and more eco-friendly and appreciative of re-used and original, one-of-a-kind items. With the internet being oh so popular these days, Etsy makes sense.
If you’re feeling like leaving the house and gossiping with a friend, crafting shows pop up in local churches and halls often, but I’d say the most frequented crafting event is the One of a Kind Show. This event takes place twice a year (Spring/Christmas) and features independent designers and artists (mostly Canadian), to show their creations. I prefer attending something like this where I get to see the display and vision of the artist, and perhaps speak to them.
Now don’t be alarmed by the over whelming amount of cute things that have silhouettes of birds on them. Birds have dominated the crafting industry, but let me tell you, it doesn’t stop there. Below I have left you with a small visual of what to expect if you decide to seek out the desirable trend of crafting.
